The cancel button (X) also does not work when commercials are on, the commercial has to run its full course, you usually have that option to hit the cancel( X) button when you don’t want to see a certain commercial be it audio or just visual and it goes away instantaneously in other mobile applications. I However think they should reconsider commercials with audio, some of these commercials don’t even have a mute button, imagine being in church or at a fellowship when these audio commercials start playing, it has a way of disrupting not just you but the entire room and thus destroying the very purpose for which this wonderful app was built for.
